TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention relates to a grinding machine for flat surfaces and workpieces such as broaches, as per the preamble of claim 1. An example of such a machine is disclosed by US 4461121 A.

PRIOR ART

Grinding machines that have a tangential wheelhead and grind flat surfaces are well known.

Specific sharpening machines for manufacturing broaches of any type are also well known.

US3851563 discloses a machine for machining workpieces such as broaches. The machine has a single wheelhead and enables the wheelhead to be orientated in such a way that the helical machining of the workpiece can be executed at a given angle.

US4461121 describes a grinding machine with at least three wheels offering the possibility of the relative positioning of the workpiece to be ground and the wheels so as to execute said workpiece in accordance with the specifications that this is to have.

DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION

The object of the invention is to provide a flat surface grinding machine that has a second wheelhead for machining workpieces such as broaches, as defined in claim 1.

With the machine that is the object of the invention a conventional flat surface grinding machine may also be used for machining broaches by including for this purpose a second retracting wheelhead rotatable about its own axis.

The advantages that stem from the invention are as follows:

  • There is no need to build a machine specifically for machining broaches, as the flat surface grinding machine may be used.
  • A sturdy machine is obtained.
  • The working of the machine is simple. The transition from machining with the first wheelhead to machining with the second wheelhead and vice versa is done by numeric control by means of the vertical movement of the first wheelhead and the horizontal movement of the second wheelhead in relation to the first wheelhead, no other type of operation, such as the manual replacement of one wheelhead for another, being necessary.
  • When the second wheelhead is in the rest position the arrangement is such that it does not restrict the travel of the machine.

DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

  • FIG.1 is an elevational view of the machine of the invention in the position in which the second wheelhead is retracted and the workpiece is being ground with the wheel of the first wheelhead.
  • FIG. 2 is an elevational view of the machine of the invention in the position in which the workpiece is being machined with the wheel of the second wheelhead.

DETAILED DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION

With reference to FIG. 1, the grinding machine 1 has a machining table 2 on which the workpiece 3 to be machined is secured. The machine 1 comprises a first wheelhead 4, with its respective wheel 5, with the option of vertical movement in relation to a fixed vertical column 6. The workpiece 3 is situated between a headstock and a tailstock. The headstock allows the workpiece 3 to rotate in respect of its own axis.

On its underside the first wheelhead 4 has a slide 7 with a shifting pedestal 8 that moves on said slide 7. Said shifting pedestal 8 is linked to an index plate 9, which is linked in turn to a second wheelhead 10, with its respective wheel 11. In this way, the wheelhead 10 can slide longitudinally in relation to the main wheelhead 4 and may in turn rotate in respect of its own axis.

In FIG. 1 the wheelhead 10 is in its rest position (position A) and it is the wheel 5 that is grinding. In FIG. 2 said wheelhead 10 is in its working position (position B), while the wheel 11 is being used. To pass from the position of FIG. 1 to the position of FIG. 2, the first wheelhead 4 moves according to the vertical axis on column 6. The shifting pedestal 8 then moves on the slide 7 until the wheelhead 10 reaches its working position on the workpiece 3. The horizontal movement of the wheelhead 10 and the horizontal movement of the workpiece 3 are perpendicular.

The index plate 9 enables the wheelhead 10 to turn in respect of its own axis, whereby the wheel 11 can attack the workpiece 3 at a certain angle set at the numeric control. In this way, the helical grinding of the workpiece 3 is carried out by combining the movement of said workpiece 3 in respect of said wheel 11 with the simultaneous rotation of the workpiece 3 in respect of its own axis. The workpiece 3 is rotated by way of the headstock to which said workpiece 3 is attached, the speed of the aforesaid rotation being governed by numeric control.


Anspruch[de]
  1. Schleifmaschine zur spanabhebenden Bearbeitung von ebenen Flächen und von Werkstücken (3), wie zum Beispiel Räumnadeln, umfassend:
    • Mittel zum horizontalen Verschieben des spanabhebend zu bearbeitenden Werkstücks (3) und Mittel zum Drehen des Werkstücks (3) in bezug auf seine eigene Achse,
    • eine vertikale Säule (6),
    • einen ersten Schleifspindelstock (4) zur spanabhebenden Bearbeitung von ebenen Flächen, schiebbar montiert an der vertikalen Säule (6) und im wesentlichen vertikal bewegbar in bezug auf die Säule (6) und
    • einen zweiten Schleifspindelstock (10) zur spanabhebenden Bearbeitung von Werkstücken (3), wie zum Beispiel Räumnadeln, drehbar um seine eigene Achse,
    dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
    • der erste Schleifspindelstock (4) an seiner Unterseite einen Schlitten (7) aufweist,

      und
    • der zweite Schleifspindelstock (10) schiebbar montiert ist auf dem Schlitten (7) und im wesentlichen horizontal bewegbar ist in bezug auf den Schlitten (7),
    wobei, wenn sich der erste Schleifspindelstock (4) in seiner Arbeitsstellung befindet, der zweite Schleifspindelstock (10) in seiner Ruhestellung (A) auf dem Schlitten (7) zum Werkstück (3) beabstandet angeordnet ist, und wenn sich der zweite Schleifspindelstock (10) in seiner Arbeitsstellung (B) befindet, der zweite Schleifspindelstock (10) neben dem Werkstück (3) angeordnet ist, winkelig ausgerichtet zur Ausführung der spiralförmigen spanabhebenden Bearbeitung, wobei der Übergang des zweiten Schleifspindelstocks (10) von der Ruhestellung (A) in die Arbeitsstellung (B) und umgekehrt durch die vertikale Bewegung des ersten Schleifspindelstocks (4) und die horizontale Bewegung des zweiten Schleifspindelstocks (10) erfolgt.
  2. Schleifmaschine nach Anspruch 1, wobei der zweite Schleifspindelstock (10) auf dem Schlitten (7) mittels einer Teilscheibe (9) und eines verschiebbaren Untersatzes (8) montiert ist.
  3. Schleifmaschine nach Anspruch 1, wobei die horizontale Bewegung des Werkstücks (3) und die horizontale Bewegung des zweiten Schleifspindelstocks (10) im rechten Winkel erfolgen.
Anspruch[en]
  1. Grinding machine for machining flat surfaces and workpieces (3) such as broaches, comprising:
    • means for horizontally displacing the workpiece (3) to be machined and means for rotating said workpiece (3) in respect of its own axis,
    • a vertical column (6),
    • a first wheelhead (4) for machining flat surfaces slidably mounted on said vertical column(6) and substantially vertically movable with respect of said column (6), and
    • a second wheelhead (10) for machining workpieces (3) such as broaches rotatable about its own axis,
    characterised in that
    • said first wheelhead (4) has a slide (7) on its underside, and
    • said second wheelhead (10) is slidably mounted on said slide (7) and is substantially horizontally movable with respect of said slide (7),
    wherein, when the first wheelhead (4) is in its working position, the second wheelhead (10) is placed away from the workpiece (3) on the slide (7) in its rest position (A), and, when the second wheelhead (10) is in its working position (B), said second wheelhead (10) is placed next to the workpiece (3), angularly oriented in order to carry out the helical machining, the transition from the rest position (A) to the working position (B) of the second wheelhead (10) and vice versa being done by means of the vertical movement of the first wheelhead (4) and the horizontal movement of the second wheelhead (10).
  2. Grinding machine according to claim 1, wherein the second wheelhead (10) is mounted on the slide (7) by means of an index plate (9) and a shifting pedestal (8).
  3. Grinding machine according to claim 1, wherein the horizontal movement of the workpiece (3) and the horizontal movement of the second wheelhead (10) are perpendicular.
Anspruch[fr]
  1. Rectifieuse pour usiner des surfaces planes et des pièces (3) telles que des broches, comprenant :
    • des moyens pour déplacer horizontalement la pièce (3) à usiner et des moyens pour faire tourner ladite pièce (3) par rapport à son propre axe,
    • une colonne verticale (6),
    • une première tête de meulage (4) pour usiner les surfaces planes montées de manière coulissante sur ladite colonne verticale (6) et mobiles sensiblement verticalement par rapport à ladite colonne (6), et
    • une seconde tête de meulage (10) pour usiner des pièces (3) telles que des broches pouvant tourner autour de son propre axe,
    caractérisée en ce que
    • ladite première tête de meulage (4) a une glissière (7) sur son côté inférieur, et
    • ladite seconde tête de meulage (10) est montée de manière coulissante sur ladite glissière (7) et est mobile sensiblement horizontalement par rapport à ladite glissière (7),
    dans laquelle, lorsque la première tête de meulage (4) se trouve dans sa position de service, la seconde tête de meulage (10) est éloignée de la pièce (3) sur la glissière (7) dans sa position de repos (A), et, lorsque la seconde tête de meulage (10) se trouve dans sa position de service (B), ladite seconde tête de meulage (10) est placée à côté de la pièce (3), orientée angulairement afin de réaliser l'usinage hélicoïdal, la transition de la position de repos (A) à la position de service (B) de la seconde tête de meulage (10) et vice versa étant effectuée au moyen du mouvement vertical de la première tête de meulage (4) et du mouvement horizontal de la seconde tête de meulage (10).
  2. Rectifieuse selon la revendication 1, dans laquelle la seconde tête de meulage (10) est montée sur la glissière (7) au moyen d'un plateau diviseur (9) et d'un socle coulissant (8).
  3. Rectifieuse selon la revendication 1, dans laquelle le mouvement horizontal de la pièce (3) et le mouvement horizontal de la seconde tête de meulage (10) sont perpendiculaires.
